VWA contributes to the quality of urban space at many different scales through the design and realization of a broad range of urban public projects in Switzerland, Spain and France. Recently their project for the Jardin du Rivage, adjacent to the Place du Marché in Vevey, was selected for realization as the winning entry of an open competition. Other examples of Swiss projects in the public realm include: cemetery designs for Vevey and St-Légier, urban design for a new neighborhood including Hospital and EMS extensions in Château-d’Oex, the redesign of the Château-d’Oex main street and square, as well as day-care centers and their gardens in Château-d’Oex and Yverdon-les-Bains. In France, VWA redesigned with Bruno Reichlin the public spaces at the foot of Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Briey, and in Spain several of VWA’s projects for urban parks and landscapes of new collective housing neighborhoods have been constructed.

From 2004-2006, VWA conducted the project Cadrages (VERZONE et al. 2004), the assessment and evolution of the rural landscape of Vaud, Switzerland, a 4-volume landscape masterplan aimed at identifying the variety and quality of Vaud’s landscapes as well as the major development issues and possible future scenarios for the canton. Cadrages has been shaping the way that Vaud’s planning authorities address the development of its agricultural territory at the cantonal, regional and communal levels and has catalyzed a number of smaller pilot projects. VWA is currently studying the rural territory of the Haute-Broye as well as developing the Landscape Masterplan for Northern Lausanne (SDNL).
