Agroscope – ProfiCrops

Agroscope represents Swiss federal applied research in agriculture and food assigned to the Federal Office of Agriculture. The Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil Research Station ACW addresses plant and plant-derived food research and runs the Agroscope Research Program ProfiCrops, for which ACW’s deputy and research director Dr. Lukas Bertschinger is responsible.

Agroscope practices at the threshold between research, knowledge and technology transfer and exchange by collaborating in an inter and transdisciplinary fashion with its stakeholders from different phases of the agriculture and innovation process. They are aided by an extensive record in developing sustainable food systems in Switzerland and provide the FUI process with sustainable and agriculturally specific practices and methods that can be applied or tailored to fit the urban context. Agroscope’s connection to the Swiss agricultural sector assists in identifying crops, methods, infrastructure, activities and products that weave traditionally rural Swiss agriculture into the fabric of the city. This will create sustainable benefits to producers, end-users and society.
